Podicipedidae: Western Grebe (Aechmophorus occidentalis)

Western grebes sometimes pass through Albuquerque on their migrations.

Podicipedidae: Eared Grebe (Podiceps nigricollis)

Eared grebes aren't common in Albuquerque, but they either breed, winter, or migrate everywhere in New Mexico.

Podicipedidae: Pied-Billed Grebe (Podilymbus podiceps)

Breeding adult pied-billed grebes have bills that are more black-and-white than nonbreeding adults/immatures. I see more of these birds in the winter, but a few hang out in the Albuquerque area all year round.
