Alcedinidae: Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon)

Female belted kingfishers' breasts have bands or large patches of rust-colored plumage. Males' breast's are black and white, possibly with a rust-colored feather or two. To find belted kingfishers, learn their chattering call. Once you hear that, look for a bird perched where it can watch the water's surface. From there it'll dart out and down to grab a fish, then return to its perch.
