Fendler's Buckbrush (Ceanothus fendleri)

Fendler's buckbrush is an upland plant from the Rocky Mountains south into Mexico. It forms shrubs up to head height, with thorns and reddish mature bark. When in flower, it's covered by many small clusters of tiny flowers, each with a long tube.
